Skegness Groups Invited to Submit Project Ideas for Funding
Community groups in Skegness are being offered the chance to put forward ideas for projects that could potentially benefit from government funding coming into the
Multi-million pound government funding is coming into Skegness – and we need your help to decide how this money is invested.
Through the Plan for Neighbourhoods, Skegness will receive up to £20 million of funding and support over the next ten years.
In the coming months, a regeneration plan that sets out a vision and a four year investment plan will be developed for how this funding will be invested in the town.
And, at the heart of these plans will be the views and opinions of local people.
This work is being led and overseen by Skegness Neighbourhood Board, a group of people from different sectors and backgrounds who all share a commitment to making Skegness be the best place it can be.
We need your views. Tell us your ideas for Skegness around these themes…
We’re still talking to people, finding out what matters to the community. Right now you can have your say on the themes for the funding in our form – we just want your thoughts and ideas! What you tell us will help the board to shape a plan for Skegness that meets people’s needs. We’re together for Skegness – and we want to hear from you.
We’ve been asking for people’s views and collecting ideas from the public since 2024 and we have gathered together around 1,000 separate pieces of feedback. This feedback has been shared in a whole range of ways including in 121 conversations, on postcards at events such as the East Lincs Expo, on feedback leaflets, in interview sessions in the town, and in surveys including one carried out on behalf of the government. Our most recent consultation took place in July and August this year – thank you to everyone who had their say. Our consultation has revealed some key things that local people want for Skegness:
Beautiful coastline and accessible clean beach.
The sea and the large beaches quiet in the winter but in summer, Skegness comes alive like a theatre. The Tourist trade is buzzing.
It could be cleaner, more attractive and improved public areas
The streets need cleaning and some flowers would be nice.
Better public transport links. Rail link to Lincoln, London. Later public transport buses and trains as last ones at 6/7 pm means no nights out.”
Coastal location, clean beaches, compact (most within walking distance).
The roads are in a terrible state of disrepair, but the pavements are in a disgraceful state.
Improve the way it looks - tidy it up.
Sort out the seating that is full of sand and weeds.
Larger chain shops in the town, so I don’t have to travel an hour to get to them.”
